Seasonal influenza activity continues to decline in most areas of the country. Ten flu-related deaths in children were reported this week, bringing the total reported this season to 158.

Update on CDC’s Avian Influenza A(H5N1) Response Activities

CDC’s response to this outbreak of A(H5N1) bird flu in dairy cattle includes working with states to finalize and standardize study protocols for state-led field studies; beginning weekly reporting on the numbers of people being monitored and tested for A(H5N1) viruses; and engaging manufacturers and clinicians on the development of commercial H5N1 tests.
