Seasonal influenza activity remains elevated nationally but is decreasing. Five flu-related deaths in children were reported this week, bringing the total reported this season to 121. CDC continues to recommend flu vaccination at this time.

H5N1 Bird Flu Virus Detected in Goats in Minnesota 

Highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A(H5N1) (bird flu) virus has been detected in baby goats on a farm in Minnesota where a poultry flock had previously tested positive for the virus. The infected goats represent the first cases of HPAI infection in goats worldwide.
