Hello,

CDC invites you to join us in encouraging everyone 6 months and older to get a flu vaccine this year with our new ‘I Get It’ campaign. There are many reasons to get a flu vaccine—whether it is to keep yourself healthy, prevent the worsening of an underlying chronic health condition, protect a loved one who may be more vulnerable to flu’s potentially serious complications, or stop the spread of flu in your community. Share your reason for getting a flu vaccine this fall!

Get Involved

  1. Share your flu vaccine photo on your social media stories with a message on why you are getting a flu vaccine this year. You can download CDC I Get It customizable graphics here
    • Download the social media files online or use the attached I Get It PowerPoint Deck and add your own photo to share on social media.
    • Tag @CDCFlu on Twitter or CDC on Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn.
  2. We have created two customizable flu campaign Instagram Story templates to choose from, depending on whether you are representing an organization or yourself.

Campaign Events

In addition to social and digital media promotions, we invite you to tune in to the following media events and webinars taking place during the month of October:

  • Join us for the 2021 Annual NFID Influenza/Pneumococcal News Conference on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 9:30–10:30 AM ET via webcast. Please register in advance at: www.workcast.com/register?cpak=3107969164829071 (note that questions will be limited to credentialed members of the media.) The national media event brings together government, non-profit and private sectors, medical societies, and advocacy groups to launch the influenza season and communicate critical public health messages. Supporting organizations help to convey a strong and unified commitment to disease prevention and reinforce the importance of influenza and pneumococcal vaccination—particularly critical this season, during the COVID-19 pandemic. The collaborative efforts greatly contribute to the success of this event as evidenced by the high volume and impressive quality of media coverage and social media engagement in previous years.

    Confirmed panelists include:
    • Rochelle P. Walensky, MD, MPH (Keynote), CDC Director
    • William Schaffner, MD (Moderator), NFID Medical Director
    • Laura E. Riley, MD, Obstetrician and Gynecologist-in-Chief, New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center; Chair, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Weill Cornell Medicine
    • Cedric “Jamie” Rutland, MD, CEO of West Coast Lung and COVID-19 Medical Director, Private Health Management
    • Patricia A. (Patsy) Stinchfield, MS, CPNP, NFID President-Elect; Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Children’s Minnesota

We also ask that you participate virtually in the NFID Leading By Example initiative by sharing a photo or video of your organizational leader(s) getting vaccinated. NFID may use the visuals as part of the virtual event, on social media, and in media outreach.

  • Watch the CDC and AAP’s COCA Call webinar 2021–2022 Recommendations for Influenza Prevention and Treatment in Children: An Update for Pediatric Practitioners on Thursday October 7, 2021 from 2:00 – 3:00 PM ET. The webinar information will be available on CDC’s COCA Call webpage the week of the webinar. During this COCA call, subject matter experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and CDC will discuss strategies primary care providers and medical subspecialists can use to improve, prevent, and control influenza among children this season.
  • Tune in to the Ad Council’s No Time for Flu 2021-2022 flu vaccine campaign partner webinar on Thursday, October 14, 2021 (additional details to follow). The Ad Council, the American Medical Association (AMA), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the CDC Foundation are continuing the second year of the campaign, No One Has Time for Flu, to encourage Americans to get vaccinated against flu. New resources will be made available for partners to use and share to promote influenza vaccination, including TV and Radio PSAs, customizable social media graphics, and Out of Home Advertising. Links to these resources will be added to the Ad Council toolkit webpage: https://getmyflushot.adcouncilkit.org/
