VIS Document and Code Changes Effective August 06, 2021
Updated editions of some of the Vaccine Information Statements (VISs) have been posted on the VIS website. We encourage providers to begin using the updated VISs immediately, but previous editions may be used until they run out. For more information, please visit the VIS website.
Release Notes: This release covers updates for Vaccine Information Statement (VIS) codes and maps only. A separate set of release notes and files are prepared for other vaccine code updates.
This release includes the following VIS related updates:
Fourteen (14) new VIS document editions have been added to the CDC website as of 8/06/2021. The edition status of the associated prior edition for each has been set to “historic.”
The following three VIS downloadable files have been updated on the CDC website on 8/13/2021 to reflect the changes as of 8/06/2021:
- VIS Barcode Lookup Table
- CVX to VIS
- VIS URL Table
The new VIS documents are shown below for reference (“New VIS Document Type Description”), along with the prior VIS documents they replaced (“Previous VIS Document Type Description”). It should be noted that the VIS Document Type Description has changed for some of the VIS documents in this edition. The comparison to the prior edition VIS Document Type Description is shown in the table below.
In the downloadable files, each new VIS has a new document “VIS Fully-encoded text string,” an “Edition Date” of 8/6/2021, and an “Edition Status” of Current. The previous VIS documents now have the “Edition Status” set to Historic. Current and previous editions retain the same “VIS GDTI Document Code.” The URLs remain the same across editions. CVX codes associated to each new VIS have been updated from the prior edition where appropriate to reflect current CVX codes.
