Heart Disease and Women

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States. Although heart disease is sometimes thought of as a man’s disease, almost as many women as men die each year of heart disease in the United States.

Strep Throat

Worried your sore throat may be strep throat? Strep throat is a common type of sore throat in children, but it’s not very common in adults. Doctors can do a quick test to see if a sore throat is strep throat. If so, antibiotics can help you feel better faster and prevent spreading it to others.

Violence Impacts Teens

Violence is preventable. We can all help young people grow up violence-free. Violence can limit life opportunities, lead to emotional and physical health problems, and shorten lives. Far too commonly, teens 14 to 18 years old experience violence, often more than one type such as physical fighting, sexual violence, dating violence, and bullying.

Prevent Needlestick Injury

Healthcare personnel who use or may be exposed to needles are at increased risk of needlestick injury. Needlestick injuries can lead to serious or fatal infections with bloodborne pathogens such as hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C virus, or HIV.

COVID-19 in the U.S.

As of February 12, 2021

In the United States, there have been 27,229,862 confirmed cases of COVID-19 detected through U.S. public health surveillance systems in 50 states and the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In addition to cases, deaths, and laboratory testing, CDC’s COVID Data Tracker now has a Vaccinations tab to track distribution of COVID-19 vaccines in your state.

CDC is closely monitoring an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a novel (new) coronavirus.

Sign up for the COVID Data Tracker Weekly Review newsletter if you would like more information on COVID-19. Please share it with your colleagues and networks.
