Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report

Flu activity is at low, summertime levels. This week concludes our weekly surveillance report of FluView for the 2019-2020 season. While CDC will continue to publish FluView over the summer, CDC also has begun weekly publication of “COVIDView,” a report that tracks and interprets data related to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the United States.

Slow the Spread of Viruses

Flu and other respiratory viruses, like COVID-19, are thought to spread mainly by droplets made by someone who is infected coughing, sneezing, or talking. Because there is no vaccine to protect against COVID-19, the best way to protect yourself is to avoid being exposed. Everyone can do their part to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

What To Do If You Are Sick

If you have a fever or cough, you could be sick with COVID-19. Most people have mild illness and can recover at home. Older adults and people of any age with serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. People who experience trouble breathing, lasting pain or pressure in the chest, or any other emergency warning signs should obtain medical care right away.
