Protect Children with a Flu Vaccine
During the 2017-2018 flu season, 185 flu deaths in children were reported to CDC. However, we know this number is likely an underestimate because not all severely ill children get tested for flu. The CDC estimates that the number of deaths associated with flu in children during 2017-2018 may be closer to 600, based on mathematical modeling. During past seasons, approximately 80% of flu-associated deaths in children occurred in children who were not vaccinated. The single best way to protect your child against seasonal flu is to get them and yourself a flu vaccine each year!
