Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer in Young Women
CDC has convened an Advisory Committee on Breast Cancer in Young Women, a federal advisory committee established by the Education and Awareness Requires Learning Young (EARLY) Act, section 10413 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Public Law 111-148). The EARLY Act authorizes CDC to develop initiatives to increase knowledge of breast health and breast cancer among women, particularly among those under the age of 40 and those at heightened risk for developing the disease.

HIV Surveillance in Women (Through 2008)
The slide set covering HIV Surveillance in Women has recently been updated with information from the 2008 HIV Surveillance Report: Diagnoses of HIV infection and AIDS in the United States and Dependent Areas.

National Action Plan for the Prevention, Detection and Management of Infertility (pdf)
The goal of the National Action Plan is to promote, preserve, and restore the ability of people who live in the United States to have a healthy child. This includes helping women to conceive, carry a pregnancy to term, and have a live birth. It also seeks to reduce the burden of infertility and impaired fecundity in the United States through prevention, early detection, and treatment of conditions that can lead to infertility.

National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network
CDC's National Environmental Public Health Tracking Network is a website that brings together data concerning some health and environmental problems. The goal of this network is to provide information to help improve where we live, work, and play. Health Effects categories include reproductive and birth outcomes, birth defects, cancer, and more.

U.S. Global Health Initiative
The United States will invest $63 billion over six years to help partner countries improve health outcomes through strengthened health systems – with a particular focus on improving the health of women, newborns and children through programs including infectious disease, nutrition, maternal and child health, and safe water. GHI aims to maximize the sustainable health impact the U.S. achieves for every dollar invested.

State Disparities in Teenage Birth Rates in the United States
This report examines disparities in teenage birth rates by state and among the largest racial and ethnic population groups. In 2008, state-specific teenage birth rates varied widely, from less than 25.0 per 1,000 15-19 year olds to more than 60.0. Rates for non-Hispanic white and Hispanic teenagers were uniformly higher in the Southeast and lower in the Northeast and California.

United States Life Tables by Hispanic Origin (pdf)
Life expectancy at birth for the total population in 2006 was 77.7 years; 80.6 years for the Hispanic population, 78.1 years for the non-Hispanic white population, and 72.9 years for the non-Hispanic black population. Among the six Hispanic origin-race sex groups, Hispanic females have the highest life expectancy at birth, followed by non-Hispanic white females, Hispanic males, non-Hispanic black females, non-Hispanic white males, and non-Hispanic black males.

Hepatitis B and a Healthy Baby
This is an audio-visual educational tool that describes the importance of getting babies vaccinated against hepatitis B if their mother has hepatitis B. The 13 page slide presentation uses very simple language and assumes low health literacy. The slide set has accompanying audio in English, Mandarin Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, and Hmong. Taglish is available in a written format only.

Hepatitis B and Your Healthy Baby
This is a 24 page visual-only educational slide set for pregnant women who have Hepatitis B. The slide set explains the importance of getting babies vaccinated against Hepatitis B to prevent transmission of the disease. The slide set is written in easy to understand English, and is geared towards someone with moderate health literacy.

Teenage Pregnancy Prevention: Integrating Services, Programs, and Strategies through Communitywide Initiatives
The national organizations will provide training and technical assistance to all funded organizations within this initiative. The state- and community-based grantees will provide training and technical assistance to youth-serving organizations and partners to implement the Key Components.

Current Depression among Adults - United States, 2006 and 2008
This report summarizes the results of this analysis, which indicated that, among 235,067 adults (in 45 states, the District of Columbia [DC], Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands), 9.0% met the criteria for current depression, including 3.4% who met the criteria for major depression.
