Real bare metal has no operating system on it at all as a starting
position.  Due to malware infections it used to be possible to go to bare
metal and install an operating system to clear the problem but bouncing
moon ended all of that.  My guess with bouncing moon it'll be time to
replace the motherboard and the hard drive to clear that problem.
