I am unsure what allows you to make these decisions, define these issues
for others, when the current decision was discussed and the choice made.
Nothing presently prevents individuals from placing anything they wish into
the body of their posts.
While I agree with the deission to remove email addresses it was also
requested at that time that people use some form of identification even if
it is just a name or handle in the body of the email. It does make
folowing threads somewhat easier and I see no realistic reason not to put
some form of signature in.

Adding an identifying signature (however obscure) lets folks follow
conversations more easily. If I know that the "FredQ" who posted one
message posted another one earlier, it gives me useful context.
