Then, my assumption is that the issue is having both alsa and pulseaudio working at the same time, which works now but not so well previously. I will make some tests myself on a previous version tomorrow (it's late here), but probably you need to upgrade Slint to the current version. Please tell if you tried both in a console (aka tty) and in a graphical environment, so that I can reproduce your situation.
