Has anyone used a Mac based computer to run Linux of any kind and who uses a screen reader? In my past I have installed linux on a mac book pro and it worked fine but the key commands did not always work as they should because the Orca key is the "Insert key which Mac computers do not have. If kali linux is able to after that it will start speaking through the installation process. Apple machines get fussy when other opeating systems get install attempts on them. > > On Mon, 22 Jun 2015, Bryan Duarte wrote: > >> Date: Mon, 22 Jun 2015 11:19:16 >> From: Bryan Duarte <bryan0731@xxxxxxxxx> >> Reply-To: Linux for blind general discussion <blinux-list@xxxxxxxxxx> >> To: Linux for blind general discussion <blinux-list@xxxxxxxxxx> >> Subject: Re: kali-linux install >> I have been trying to install Kali Linux on a partition of my Mac book air with no success. I know I could download the program refit and get it to work but that is a pain once it is installed due to no speech at log in. Are you installing this on a Windows based computer? I also heard there is a Kali distro for the Raspberry PI but I have not had time to look in to that yet. If you have any tips on getting a Linux Distro up and running on a Mac successful other than refit please do share. thanks >>> On Jun 20, 2015, at 4:41 AM, Jude DaShiell <jdashiel@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: >>> >>> I found out kali-linux is debian-based with a few differences. Lots of security tools get installed by default. I got it installed on another disk (I use drive sleds here) by booting the disk then hitting s just after the beep and hitting enter. The sound card asked me several questions I used the keyboard to answer. When that finished, the system ejected the kali dvd then rebooted. What came up next was an orca login frame and after I logged in the current version of kali-linux continued to work. Kali-linux is not my main distro, the command line environments like debian and archlinux have higher priority for now. All of this installation happened with no screen connected to the computer. Maybe next week I'll get out and buy a screen for this computer if all works out correctly. >>> >>> >>> >>> -- >>> >>> _______________________________________________ >>> Blinux-list mailing list >>> Blinux-list@xxxxxxxxxx >>> https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/blinux-list >> >> >> _______________________________________________ >> Blinux-list mailing list >> Blinux-list@xxxxxxxxxx >> https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/blinux-list >> > > -- > > _______________________________________________ > Blinux-list mailing list > Blinux-list@xxxxxxxxxx > https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/blinux-list _______________________________________________ Blinux-list mailing list Blinux-list@xxxxxxxxxx https://www.redhat.com/mailman/listinfo/blinux-list
