Gnome-shell is not a distribution,
But what I ment is use any suitable distro which comes by default with gnome-shell.
Such as Ubuntu-gnome or sonar.
happy hacking.

Gnome Shell is not a Linux distribution. It's a graphical desktop or a graphical user interface running on the Linux kernel. It's what you use to launch and manage and jump between your graphical applications. As almost always, you can find out more with a web search, such as the wikipedia article for Gnome Shell at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GNOME_Shell

Different distributions tend to select a graphical desktop. For example, Ubuntu uses Unity, Gubuntu uses Gnome Shell, Kubuntu uses KDE and so on. You can uninstall the desktop that comes with your distribution and install another one, but I've always just gone with the desktop that comes with the distribution I've selected, or the reverse. For example, I've just used Unity when running Ubuntu or Gnome Shell when running Fedora.

Hi.
What is GNome Shell? Is it a Linux distro? Where can I download it from?
By the way my Netbook has only 1 gb RAM and that is the maximum limit
of expansion.
I would appreciate any assistance.
I have found out that the LXDE environment is the lightest and
quickest? What is the accessibility of LXDE?
Iwould appreciate any assistance.

I read this message so late.
My firm advice is to go for Gnome shell 3.10 or so.
it is really fast, provided you have around 2 gb ram.

Dear all.
I require information about the accessibility of netbook oriented
Linux distributions.
Currently, I use Windows 7 Starter but it is considerably slow.
Therefore I would like to switch to Linux
Please tell me if any of you use a Linux distribution for netbooks.
Thank you very much.
