There are a number of them, but many require Flash to be installed,
and a GUI as well.  It's nice to have a way to test the speed even if
you don't have a GUI with Flash installed.  The youtube-dl plus
"iftop" pairing mean I can do a test even from my headless machines.
Alternatively, if you have a large file out there behind a fat
connection, you can just use "wget" which usually reports the download
speed as part of its output.
