Thanks for that feedback, Kyle. But I had that problem on three different machines, including an older 32-bit machine with Virtual Box and on two of them with VMWare Player. So I think that tends toward ruling out the multicore processor in this machine. It's conceivable that I never got some setting right. I'll have to look into that because I'd prefer to run Windows atop Linux but for that problem.
