I've tried to get both pebrot and centericq to work in text mode in debian, but can't get them to work. Just a lot of errors abot libraries and such things, libcurl and libicq for centericq for example.

Centericq is now called centerim and is packaged in Debian. So it shouldn't be any trouble to install and run (file a bug if it doesn't work). I've not used it in literally years.

I'm still using Pebrot. I didn't have any great difficulty starting it under Squeeze. You have to install it as you would always, but it works fine.

It's worth noting that under Squeeze, I at least get a warning about an SSL socket function being deprecated. It's no big deal at least for now, just do control-l to redraw the screen and you should be good to go.

I should probably investigate the needed function and send them a patch to make this warning go away.

Geoff.
