Hi all,
Just wanted to let you all know that Testdisk was my friend in this situation. I was able to get all of my lost partitions back so now everything is as ut should.
Many thanks!
Christian

I had a data catastrophy a while back and bookmarked this on Delicious:

Recuva worked for me. It's hit or miss, whatever you do, pull the drive,
make an image, and do your recovery on the image.
