radio tuner

I record a lot of radio programs on my PC. Right now I have my stereo 
connected up to my computer. But I don't like leaving my stereo on all the 
time. I'm leery about buying a TV/radio tuner card because I wouldn't expect 
it to be supported in linux much less linux character mode.

Anybody have any experience with TV/radio tuner cards in linux and speakup?
