IMHO, Ubuntu feisty 7.04, is a good one to try. Orca and gnome is quite heavy on resources, so you might find it unresponsive on your box. The text-only mode with speakup, also included in that distro, will work fine. In Orca, Once you got that focustracking message, press alt-f1 and you should get a menu.
