I got Feisty....Every so often I get a screen that says the "volume control has quit unexpecctedly If you reload a panel object it will automatically be added back to the panel. If one hits enter you get the don't reload box. If you give a right arrow, it moves to the reload box. then enter. (It does help to be sighted and see that box). I haven't used Ubuntu enough to tell what causes it. The Ubuntu, after April 2007 release, has Orca on it; but must be turned on by System. Orca does read the box. To activate orca Go to the basic Ubuntu screen, then I sighted get to System, down arrow speaks Preferences menu, then right toacessibility, and right to
Assistive Technology preferences, then enter. check Enable, and relog in.

Hi list,

This morning I upgraded my copy of Ubuntu Feisty to the latest testing build of gutsy to fix some issues I was having with my laptop's wireless card. However, I now have no sound via the ESD mixer. I have searched high and low on the Ubuntu forums and Linux-Questions for how to reset the gnome audio settings via the console, but I've come up empty. I'd appreciate any suggestions; I'm stumped. ALSA seems to still work since mplayer plays audio, and I can SSH from another machine to control the near-silent laptop.

P.S. Though my audio is hosed, my wireless card works again.
