Firefox in Linux?

Hi All:  I see at the Fire fox page there is an 8.2mb version for linux.  How 
friendly would this be to use as a replacement for l y n x?  I suppose Firefox 
would have java-and-javascript support?  In some searching in google, it claims 
there are commandline options.  Thanks in advance for comments
