Cheryl, Thanks for the research. My helper may well have made a type. The original partitioning was set up by Windows XP Pro, because we installed that first. So I'm going to see if Windows knows what that partition is. If it doesn't, I think I'll change it to FAT32, so I can use it as a medium for transferring filles between Linux and Windows. The swap file I set up is still unused. I'm using ReiserFS, so the loss of efficiency may not be great.
