If you were to do an "everything" install of the latest version of Red Hat's Linux (Fedora Core 2) you'd have Gnopernicus installed. Within Gnopernicus you'll have a screen reader and screen magnifier. I have used both and found them somewhat clumsy and difficult to use. Being a sighted user, I think that I had a better experience that a non-sighted user, but maybe not. I have also used Window-Eyes and Jaws and found both of them very difficult to use and quite a painful experience. So, this might give you an idea of what to expect from Gnopernicus.

I am currently working on a command-line-based custom Linux distribution with full speech based on LFS (http://www.linuxfromscratch.org/lfs/whatislfs.html) and will post more on this as the project moves along.  Hopefully it will be easy to use.

I'd like to find a way go get audio from GRUB or LILO to aid in a dual boot environment.  If there any suggestions, I'm all ears.
