hi,
when I do
ls -l /dev/cdrom I get an error that says file doesw not exist.

Do an ls -l /dev/cdrom and see whether it's there and whether it's a link to
the proper device. Device allocations did change between fedora 1 and 2 (rh8
and 9 were the same as Fedora 1 for me). The drive that used to be
/dev/cdrom1 is now /dev/cdrom and vice versa.
