Check your maillog /var/log/mmaillog to see why pine cannot mail to your local postfix. That is if postfix also logs its stuff there like sendmnail does. It might well be that it is a dns issue because your are offline when you send from pine. To see what postfix has to say when a message is sent to it while you are offline, you can do: telnet 127.0.0.1 25 and should get a mailserver greeting from postfix.
