Linux User and Developer ran an excellent article in Issue 32 on the
history of S and R as statistical languages. I'm on good terms with the
production editor if someone has a burning need for an accessible copy,
but I think for practical use the documentation will be more useful than
the history.

We should probably leave the list to less mathematical topics now ;-)
