Ah. So does DecTalk use tcl? Interesting. I have managed to get tcl 8.3 to build on Slackware 9, as I used the original source and build scripts that were used for Slackware 8.1. THis worked fine, as I use other apps that need the older version.
Hope this helps in maybe sorting out your problem with DecTalk.
