Slackware uses Glibc 2.3.1 which i think is what debian was using.
Slack ships with tcl 8.4 though so that could be an issue. Slackware
tends to be more up-to-date than Debian I find. I wonder how we'd get
around the library problems. Tclx 8.3 sources refuse to build on slack
9 so I couldn't test if the older tcl version helped.

Ah. So does DecTalk use tcl? Interesting. I have managed to get tcl 8.3 to build on Slackware 9, as I used the original source and build scripts that were used for Slackware 8.1. THis worked fine, as I use other apps that need the older version.

Hope this helps in maybe sorting out your problem with DecTalk.

Regards
Luke
