I can't help you with your sound problem, but let's say you've purchased
the domain name of walnut.telia.net and want to make your machine show up
accordingly.  As root, the command: echo walnut >/etc/HOSTNAME should have
you up and on the net once you reboot.  The thing is though, your domain
name needs to already be registered on the internet as a valid domain name
or you're going to run into all kinds of sendmail problems.
