Hello all, due to a bad manoever under my Woody, the one and only solution I had found was to upgrade to Testing; ok now it is a Testing, but I encounter a big problem: my accents are showed on a strange way; no matter how much times I do and redo # dpkg-reconfigure locales to set it again and again in en_us iso-8859-1 or fr_be or en_gb, my accents are not the same as before, and the problem is on my Testing, not for example on my old Woody (hda4) nor on a Knoppix or Oralux cd. See here my /etc files: environment and locale.gen, if someone had an idea or you may send me your cfg files if you think I can try that. ThanX, Osvaldo. My /etc/environment: LANG=en_US My /etc/locale.gen: # This file lists locales that you wish to have built. You can find a list # of valid supported locales at /usr/share/i18n/SUPPORTED. Other # combinations are possible, but may not be well tested. If you change # this file, you need to rerun locale-gen. # # XXX GENERATED XXX # # NOTE!!! If you change this file by hand, and want to continue # maintaining manually, remove the above line. Otherwise, use the command # "dpkg-reconfigure locales" to manipulate this file. You can manually # change this file without affecting the use of debconf, however, since it # does read in your changes. en_US ISO-8859-1 A friend had discouraged me to downgrade to Woody because downgrading the libc is a dangerous manoeuver, and the locales depend on libc.
