Hello, Please respond privately to this message. I'm trying to figure out tr, sort, for a project. The first task is with tr, i have to take a file, run tr on it, and translate all uppercase characters in that file to lowercase, then store that translated output somewhere else. Everytime i try this i get cintax errors. For sort, i have another field with 8 colon separated fields. The last field is a numeric cost field, i have to sort the various items by cost, and store that sorted output in another file. Again, when i execute this command i don't get any cintax errors, but the output file is not sorted. Finally, i have to use the grep utility to search for files that have two links and again store that output in another file. Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
