Actually, antiviruses on Linux are pretty good for protecting
vulnerable computers. For example, one of the popular uses of Linux is
as a mail server. Why not scan for viruses going around, blocking both
ways? You minimize the risk of internal infection, and you try to
contain the thing if someone inside does get infected.

If you're going to set up a mail-scanning server, however, do be
careful about mailing lists. =)
