Keyboard commands: copy&paste

hi,
I'd like to know if using the Linux command line it is possible to copy and
paste using keyboard shortcuts, as in windows.
I mean: to select a block of text, with Win I press shift + the arrow keys,
home and End keys and page up and down, then when the block is selected I
press ctrl+C to copy it into clipboard and when I reach the point where I
paste, I press ctrl+v.
With linux, is it possible to do something similar in text editors and web
pages? I am not sure the copy-and-paste works in Links (L I N K S) text
browser.
let me know.
thanks
Jois
