I will be asking a lot of questions and will accept direction.  I do
have some linux experience though and have done a fair amount of
reading.  Yes, I hope to get emax speak to work.

Problem with heading into unknown territory is that you end up being a
pioneer in unknown territory.

Isn't is more appropriate to get your initial experience with systems
known to work? Especially as I think you have no direct Linux
experience? And,
especially as you do express opinions on the lists? Strikes me that it
would be grossly unfair for you to come back and say "this or that
doesn't work"
on unproven hardware.
