Hmm! The debian site, when I do a package search, lists the versions for stable, testing and unstable just as Mario says, but my /var/lib/dpkg/available file only has the 2.99.5 version. I was in unstable for a while during the transition, but in that case i should still have either the unstable or testing version listed. I checked my /etc/apt/sources.list and all appears to be correct there. Will keep investigating this.
