setting the clock

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,
Earlier on this list the following command was given to set the date:
    date MMDDhhmmCCYY.ss

Can someone give me a working example of how this format actually works, I do not understand the format string.
Thanks.

You have to do two things. First, set the kernel clock with:

    date MMDDhhmmCCYY.ss

Next, synchronize your hardware clock with your now corrected kernel clock
with:

    hwclock --systohc
