Octavian: Changing to lilo is not dificult. First, you need to create a proper /etc/lilo.conf. Once you have that, simply run /sbin/lilo as root. PS: It's also useful to make a text /boot/message file. Consult the our Speakup Modified installation HOWTO about creating a /boot/message file that can beep your speaker to let you know you're at the lilo boot> prompt. For reference creating your /etc/lilo.conf, here's a portion of mine. Please note that you should only use this as a guide creating your own ... boot=/dev/hda map=/boot/map install=/boot/boot.b compact prompt timeout=500 message=/boot/message lba32 default=current serial=0,9600N8 image = /boot/vmlinuz label=current alias = c vga=0X317 initrd=/boot/initrd.img read-only root=/dev/hda1 append = "hdc=ide-scsi hde=ide-scsi" other=/dev/hda3 optional label=dos On Thu, 25 Jul 2002, Octavian Rasnita wrote: > Hi all, > > I have Red Hat 7.2 and I use Grub. > > I have a problem with it because even though the menu for choosing the OS I > want appears, and I can choose Windows, it appear an error message telling > me that something's wrong with the partition and it can't boot into Windows > but only Linux. > > To boot into Windows, I need to boot with a Windows floppy disk, then to use > fdisk for setting the Windows partition as being the active partition. > Then I am able to boot from hard disk in Windows, but I need to use again > fdisk to set the Linux partition as active. > > Do you have any idea what can I do to be able to boot from that Linux > bootloader? > > I know the guy that installed me Linux didn't create a partition from > Windows, but it created it with a Linux program taking space from the > Windows partition. > > In this case, I think this corrupted somehow my Windows partition. > > Thank you for any help with this. > > Teddy Center: http://teddy.fcc.ro/ > Mail: orasnita@home.ro > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Gil Andre" <gandre@arkeia.com> > To: <blinux-list@redhat.com> > Sent: Thursday, July 25, 2002 6:12 PM > Subject: Re: booting options > > > > > > Janina, > > > > On Thu, 25 Jul 2002 10:53:37 -0400 (EDT), Janina wrote: > > > > > > Gil: > > > > > > He may be in grub.
