Yes I have. I even wrote a minimal driver for my tsi powerbraille 80 for it.

I was quite supporised how well it worked. I managed
to use the Admintool of Tru64 UNIX 5.1 remotely through
DISPLAY redirection. Thats also the main reason why I tried it.
In UNIX administration area, there is more and more X required, and some software products simply dont have any text-mode interface anylonger.

I wouldnt use it for day-to-day work. I love the console
too much to give it up for some unstable gui kind of thing.
But in situations where you have to use some X app because there
is no other thing which is text-based, try XVIL.

I had brief contact with them about their driver module
system, but I lost interested as the system is only
partially free and even the module system isnt free
enough to make compiling etc. easy. 
Anyway, IMHO for developers, GAP is the way to go.
For Users, have a look at XVIL, it really works for some apps.
