YES!

I haven't seen dvds for installation, wouldn't be too usefull.
Have a look at: http://www.MPlayerHQ.hu/homepage/
and downlaod/compile mplayer.
Sorry there are no binaries of it, so you have to do it yourself.
If you use Debian, the compilation is very easy (see docs)
otherwise it will take some extra commands to compile/install it.
