Accessibility of Redhat 7.2

My sound works with the drivers that the kernel comes with, if it's good
enough. At least redhat automates a lot of the task, not sure where major
and minor numbers are derived from for devices to pass to the module
parameters. I never did get some of the scientific calculations howtos talk
about, as they don't explain them, especially the ramdisk word for bootdisks.
