it depends on what is on each cd.

generally, all the gpl or gnu software is one one cd and the commercial
software you bought with the particular distribution of linux is on another.

sometimes they're together, but it depends on the vendor.

Infact, the cd with all open source software is NOT a commercial product.

you boughtthe media, and that's that.  now, you can't copy the boks of
course...  that oughta be obvious, unless they say you can, like the redhat
installation manual which is free for download...
they probably woulden't care if you copied it, but why bother since you can
download it?

On the idea of distributing linux around, if I bought a boxed set of redhat
or some other distro, is it legal to copy those CD's and give them to
someone else? Or does that only apply to CD's made from the iso images. I
heard somewhere you could do it, and it's technically not difficult, but
these distros are commercial products.
