When you learn to install software as part of Emacs, part of the process involves learning how to read the error messages, which basically involves switching to the messages buffer and reading its contents. It would be easy to define an Emacspeak command that would simply switch to the messages buffer and read it. Thus I don't find the argument regarding the advantage of screen readers at all persuasive.
