What you're suggestion would come up as a protocol violation, and with
a wayland connection termination and not a crash, so I'd need to
investigate further.

Could you open a JIRA ticket (at https://jira.automotivelinux.org/) for this, 
attach a run of it while having WAYLAND_DEBUG=1 exported, and after the crash
also attach what `coredumpctl debug` says about it (it should provide you with a
backtrace).

All the applications are ran as maximized. If the client doesn't resize
its window, the wayland connection will be terminated.

Are you running a version release? Or master/latest?
