Re: Spawn-Binding: a simple sandbox containers to expose Bash,Python, NodeJs, ... to HTML5 web interfaces using AGL/AFB framework

Denis,

The source code is public and it is up to the AGL community to decide if they want this new binding to be part of AGL core distro or not. https://github.com/redpesk-common/spawn-binding

The binding source is based on standard CMAKE module and does not have any special dependency. Compiling with standard AGL SDK should not be a show stopper for anyone used to AGL application compilation.

Hello Fulup,

Offered service is a great help for situations when OTA updates require board reboot (for AGL it is always the case).

Is there any roadmap for inclusion of this service into AGL image? I mean images available at https://download.automotivelinux.org/AGL/snapshots/master/latest/

Who is the best person to answer this question?

BRs,

Denis.

Hi,

We're happy to offer to the Linux community a new AFB service to exposes
through REST/Websocket APIs a simple mechanism to launch any Linux
script/command (bash, python, nodejs, lua, tcl, …) inside secure sandbox
container.

- documentation:
https://docs.redpesk.bzh/docs/en/master/redpesk-core/spawn/1-architecture_presentation.html

- git sources: https://github.com/redpesk-common

Spawn-binding was initially designed to provide an HTML5 user interface
for factory-reset service, when things get really bad (SOTA failure,
hardware breakdown, …). Nevertheless its implementation is very generic,
and it may respond to many other scenarios requirements.

For a quick test, feel free to check the binary packages for Ubuntu,
OpenSuse and Fedora. Contributions are more than welcome.
