How to replace ataraid disks?

Hi all, I have a server with a Promise TX2000 controller; I use ataraid
in linux 2.4.26, so my partitions are accessible
under /dev/ataraid/d0pX. Now SMARTd is finding some errors on one of
the disks, so I want to replace it, but... how does the raid restore
work? If I halt the machine, replace the disk and reboot, will the
array be put in sync? Or what should I do after repartitioning the
disk?

Thanks in advance, ciao
