2.4.19/2.4.20 apparently changed how
CONFIG_PDC202XX_FORCE=y
works. I disabled the 'Fasttrak special feature' and am running 2.4.20-ac1 without issues.

Does anyone have some insight as to why the newer kernels 2.4.19/2.4.20
seem to have issues with the promise raid controllers. Everything works fine with 2.4.18:
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_ATARAID=y
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_ATARAID_PDC=y
# CONFIG_BLK_DEV_ATARAID_HPT is not set
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_PDC202XX=y
CONFIG_PDC202XX_BURST=y
