System freezes completely when copying from hde1 to hdg1 (both on PDC20265, kernel 2.4.19-ac4)

Hello group,

I read through this newsgroup and could see people with problems in kernel
2.4.19 and the PDCs, but usually they cannot see their disks, RAID is not
working... so I am not sure if I belong to the same problem field.

I working on an ASUS A7V133 which has a built in PDC20265. I have two Maxtor
160GB disks connected as masters which are /dev/hde and /dev/hdg.
When I was running 2.4.18, it all worked fine, except my drives were only
137GB. So I decided to upgrade to 2.4.19-ac4, repartitioned and reformatted my
drives - and voila, they are 160 GB now.
Everything works perfectly, except:

Whenever I copy files from /dev/hde1 to /dev/hdg1 (users backup to hde1,
then I copy the stuff to back them up to tape from hdg1) the system freezes
completely. It just stops reacting, the screen looks like a still image.

Is there anything wrong with 2.4.19, -ac4, my configuration? It would be
great if anyone of you could help me, this problem drives me crazy. Especially
since I can use the two disks seperately, just no copies from one to the
other.
My PDC Config looks like that:

CONFIG_BLK_DEV_PDC202XX=y
CONFIG_PDC202XX_BURST=y
# CONFIG_PDC202XX_FORCE is not set

If the problem comes from the -ac4-patch, can I install the large disk patch
(> 137GB) standalone without using ac4?

Thanks a lot for your help,

Torben
