problems with pdcraid and kernel 2.4.19

Hi all,

Like several others, I am trying to use a Promise
FastTrak TX2000 (PDC20271) with ataraid and
the 2.4.19 kernel. I started with a RedHat 7.3
2.4.18-3 config file, then made the necessary changes
as per the instructions in the Linux ATA RAID HOWTO.

I could not get the kernel to recognize the card
(apparently) so I searched the list and found
Alan's advice to:

>> set "CONFIG_PDC202XX_FORCE=y" to:
>> "# CONFIG_PDC202XX_FORCE is not set"

I recompiled and still cannot get it to work.
My grub.conf settings look like this ( / is partition #2):

title Red Hat Linux (2.4.19)
        root (hd0,0)
        kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.19 ro root=/dev/ataraid/d0p2
        initrd /initrd-2.4.19.img

and I changed my entries to look like this:

/dev/ataraid/d0p2 / ext3 defaults 1 1
/dev/ataraid/d0p1 /boot ext3 defaults 1 2

When I boot, it doesn't seem to find the card, and I don't
get a message resembling Promise Fasttrak(tm) Softwareraid driver for linux version 0.03beta.

Is this even possible?

Barton
