(SCSI based 1.1TB server cost x times more... x >> 3) (Have anybody personal experience with 3ware and big (>700GB) raid5 server?) So many peole are confused with these non hardware raid promise & higpoint drivers and them properties. So maybe is time to write FAQ ? 1. "ATA-RAID" linux kernel driver is devoloped to enable windows & linux can access same array. If you don't need windows, you have not reason to use ATA-RAID driver. (feel free to testing) 2. ATA-RAID driver raid1 is not fault tolerant. - don't use ATA-RAID driver in production servers etc... 3. ATA-RAID driver is software raid. 4. If you need raid and use only linux, use linux software raid or buy hardware raid controller. If you think buy HW-raid controller and want still use ide disk, 3ware and adaptec is likely working... -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-* **** Eerin Rosenström **** ** Servinmaijantie 12 F 77 ** ** 02150 Espoo ** ** p. +358 9 4682997 ** **** p.+358 40 5205030 **** -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
