Why the hell do you need 40MB/s throughput for.
When recordig Full Quality Digital Video, 7.5MB/s should be enough.
I have killed my RAID array, and I get 30MB/s throughput on a single disk.
But you say your drives are UDMA4 ?
So that is ATA66, you'll never get the troughput you want.
The drives should be using UDMA5 on a ATA100 controller. See if you can set
the drives to that speed on the controller.

Hi there.

It seemes that I'm a lucky one. I have an A7V, with promise 20265
onboard, and it works fine using the included driver (0.03 beta) in 2.4x
kernels. I'm also booting from it with lilo. (it used to work with 2.2.y
AC also) (debian) (for you, unlucky ones: there should be a solution...)

There's only one problem I have: speed.

I tried even setting /dev/hde,hdg (they're the "striped" volumes) with
hdparm, but there was no recognizable speed increase. It looks like
everything's fine, drives are using UDMA-4, so on.

I'd like to get at least around 40MB/s stable throughput, to make it
possible to record and play uncompressed PAL video. What I get now is
around a single disk's performance. It's just not enough. (and I don't
think I'll ever have the money for a real disk array) By some
complicated reasons (M$) I can't use pure swraid either.

Any ideas?
