Install the kernel with rpm -Uhv, update lilo, reboot... If the new drivers are working, make a new initrd image: mkinitrd --preload=ataraid --preload=pdcraid \ /boot/initrd-2.4.8-20-raid-mdk 2.4.8-20mdk (for example) and use this image in your lilo setup; this will load the drivers at boot.
